undergarmentsHow’s your clean closet feeling?  Were you able to part with a lot of things?  Did you try to go through any of your undergarments or lingerie?

What’s a Zero Waster to do with these items they no longer want or need?  Don’t worry, you don’t have to trash them!!

Unwanted underwear and lingerie can be donated in some areas- you have to check your local laws.  There are also at least organizations that take donated items.  Free the Girls helps women who are victims of human trafficking, and Bras for a Cause  collect, bras, lingerie, and swimwear to recycle and donate worldwide!

A great option is to wear 100% cotton or other natural materials.  You can cut off the elastic and stick the cotton in your compost pile when you’re done with it.   You can also just cut them up and use them as rags!

Here’s to keeping more clothing out of the dumps!

  1. If they are in good shape I donate bras and night gowns, if broken or worn out beyond use. ….have not thought of any uses really, but I guess the material could be used to sew little drawstring bags for your cup or other little items.

  2. Old underwear can also be used as pattern templates for new underwear if your crafty. The elastic can also be used on the new pair of undies, or turned into a haor elastic with a little sewing. The bottom of the underwear can be used as a wash rag ( for toilets or one time use clleaning) and then be used as compost.

  3. I have used old underwear to create cup spots and pads!

  4. I donate all my old bras to local foundations!
